Ive decided no more travelling in this new year.

Well, let me qualify the statement. Firstly, I mean, no more travelling till my term ends in June. Secondly, an exception will be made if travelling to the continent, if time and finances allow, for skiing (in some E. Europe country).

So, why the sudden outburst?

Several reasons:
  • Im broke
  • I need to study
  • [and with absolutely no arrogant overtones intended], I think I have had a sufficient dosage of Europe...at least a taste for the rich Western Europen countries. Yea, yea, blame my stuffiness about them from my Morocco trip.
But on a serious note, I realize, concluding from my previous trips to France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Greece (albeit years back) and my trips this year to Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Poland that countries in Europe just arent alluring to me. Yes, of course they are great to visit but I am speaking in relative terms. They dont have the captivating power which many Asian countries has gotten hold of me by. I realize I like travelling most in stimulating, exciting and colourful countries with a lot of character and culture; where there are plenty of markets; where the food is varied and different; where the place is constantly crowded and the atmosphere is buzzing; where it is generally just cheap to travel as well.

So I have decided. rather than travel for the sake of travelling to nearby places (i.e. Europe), Ill save up money and go to an African or Middle Eastern country I know I will thoroughly enjoy. After Morocco, Ive gotten a nagging desire to travel to Istanbul (Turkey). I have been there with family before but I dont remember it so well except for the Troy horse, apple tea, turkish (muddy) coffee and turkish delights (hahh fooood I know).

In the meanwhile, its going to be about staying put and exploring properly London as I had meant to do since I arrived.
